a grassy field

Having spent some time over the weekend on the first grass cutting of the season (I know … pretty late … grass was WAY long), I found myself pondering the wastefulness of the modern era. Who decided that having a lovely, green carpet that requires trimming on a weekly basis would be a good use of resources and time?

Surely we might make better use of our time, perhaps working on world issues like poverty and hunger, rather than shortening non-native vegetation on such a regular basis.

Over development. We wanted everything to be so clean, pristine and nice around us that we cleared out all the plants to build. But then we decided we didn’t like living in the middle of a mud pit, so we needed to cover the ground with plants again.

Plus, you know you would be bored on Saturday morning without the lawn to mow.
