Recent Chicken Scratchings
After a recent storm, the basement shower drain overflowed with sewer water. After discussions with the city, in which they vehemently denied responsibility for the sewer backup, my housemate received the following form:
Agreed, I totally believe that this in no way construes the admission of your responsibility. I’m sure you have a form for every possible mishap that your citizens could instill upon themselves.

And I just watched the episode of Dirty Jobs which covered the cleaning of a woman’s basement in Queens after such a mishap.
I bet someone sued them after spilling hot coffee on themselves.
