Over the Christmas holidays, I was in California visiting family around LA. Although from Chicago, I have lived in the UK for almost six years and only get back to the US once a year or so. Every time I go back, the US seems more and more distant to me. Not distant in a bad way – mostly just different from where I now live.

Anyway, I saw Stars & Stripes soda for sale in a grocery store:

Patriotic soda in America

As I was pondering the concept of patriotic liquid refreshment, I suddenly realised what was displayed immediately in front of the soda.

Moist wipes

What the heck have my fellow citizens started doing with soda since I moved to England? Why do they need moist wipes to enjoy some cool, patriotic soda pop?

    we’re slobs.

the soda will bubble and fizz all over the floor and down our chins and onto our matching stars and stripes outfits, and we’ll have to use something, anything! - ooh what about some moist wipes?

I still don’t know what a blog is. Is it this website? Is it an acronym or is it short for something? I fear (or hope) that I will never be as technologically savvy as the editors of chickenmonkeydog.

    Hey Tim -

A blog is a website that allows for quick and easy posting of images and text. Check out Wikipedia for further details.

And don’t worry about our tech-savvy. We’re not really - we just fake it well!
