A sliced apple

There is a certain satisfaction and, dare I say, smugness which comes from that first bite of a piece of tasty fruit which you picked up from the grocer.  The validation that somehow (whether through skill or luck or some combination thereof) you have managed to select such a tasty delicacy out from all the other fruits in the basket is one of life’s little joys.

With fruit that I have never tried before, it’s hard to know if it’s ripe or what it should taste like. So, when I taste a new fruit for the first time that I end up liking, I am thrilled.
