You know how a lot of restaurants put a bit of their “background story” inside their menu?

At a small restaurant in Bangalore I noticed this little blurb, and one line in particular struck me as odd.

Eat, drink and freak out

Located at Rayal Comforts on 5th floor, Attic is a cool place to eat, drink and to freak out.

Really? To freak out? Is that what you want people to associate with your restaurant? Is that what you want people to DO at your restaurant? Really!?

In 2 weeks time I will be taking 20 theatre school teenagers to a restaurant.

It is a shame none of the restaurants near me are specifically for freaking out in, as they would be the best location for this particular party.

It would be most appropriate if it were Alice’s Restaurant.

Name the band who sang this lyric:

    Eat, drink and be merry,
    for tomorrow we die.

“Freak out” is Indian English for relaxing / chilling out.

    Some examples

Liam, that is Dave Matthews Band. Tripping Billies, I believe.

What type of restaurant was it? Was it a fancy restaurant or a dingy bar where poorer addicts might go to freak out?

    @ Sam

Thanks for that link, definitely taught me some new usage.

    @ K

It was more upscale of a restaurant, but you never know for sure.

    @ Maire,

    I believe you are correct!
