@ Conall,

I'd suggest that the differences in altitude are so close that it would be redundant to post a sign declaring their proximity. The linear distance between the sign and the road seems greater and therefore, in my estimation, is more worthy of public note.

@ Steve,

You were shot down by the Ninja? Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Not surprised, mind you ...

@ Liam

While I concur that linear distance is a fine measure, I hesitate to call it MORE appropriate.

Taking this Merriam-Webster definition of altitude:

Altitude: the vertical elevation of an object above a surface (as sea level or land) of a planet or natural satellite

I would suggest that the difference in the altitude of the road and the sign is minimal, meaning that they are close in terms of their respective altitudes.

@ Conall,

Why altitude? Wouldn't linear distance be a more appropriate measure?

@ Ninja -

And I love the cone on top of the Mercedes. That's hilarious. Great pic! Thanks for sending it in.

In one sense, in terms of altitude, the road IS close to the sign.
