A 50% discount on a jacuzzi room, with a king size bed, roses, buffet, and an incredibly romantic evening at one of the local area hotels.
This is where Groupon fails. I do NOT want to know that there are 189 other couples about to have the same experience.
The ups and downs of coming back to earth
Posted 24 Jan 2012
In thinking about the life that astronauts lead when they are in space, I wonder about how well they adapt to the day-to-day of existence once they return to gravity-effected earth.
I’ve made a short list of some pros and cons about returning to life on earth after an extended stint on the international space station.
Pros
- Not having to drink recycled piss
- Being able to go for a walk outside without an extensive ‘getting dressed’ session
Cons
- Actually having to walk everywhere and all the time if wanting to change locations
- Not flying
- Not being able to pick up and throw everything
- The standard hum-drum of the office routine
- Not being allowed to throw food at the dinner table
What pros and cons would you add to my list?
Don 1 crowded

I am not sure who Don 1 crowded is? Or, what Don’t crowded means?
This sign made me question how you avoid crowding because once you are in a crowd it is generally hard to get out.
Often you are crowding to look at something cool and you don’t want to miss out as you’ve paid for it … or you don’t want to get out of the crowd as you are trying to get to work in rush hour and you are already late and crowding is the only option …
No smoke, all mirrors

I saw this bathroom of a coffee shop in Chicago. There are a lot of things I look for in a bathroom. At the same time, I can think of plenty of instances where a room full of mirrors might be handy (trying on clothes and taunting James Bond come to mind). I’ve never imagined those two worlds colliding.
What do you think possessed the owner to fill a bathroom in a coffee shop with mirrors? A interior decor ploy to give the impression of more space? A way for customers to analyze their performance? I’m just thankful none of them were carnival fun house mirrors.
A MoneyGram for Batman

Stopping into my local CVS over the holidays, I saw the following set up for sending money.

The whole concept of using a public phone of any kind to send money seems so 1980s, or at least in 1980s in the USA. The cheesy display, the 1985-era telephone and the shocking price — you can send $50.00 for $5.00 — made me very suspect of the whole set up.
And doesn’t the red phone look like a slightly modernized Batphone?
