Do Not Enter Car

This could be quite inconvenient if you only notice the sign after you have already parked and exited your car!

Just vandals trying to be clever, or is the parking lot owner trying to warn you about a potential hazard currently inside your car (i.e. killer bees injected through the ventilation system)? Decide at your own risk!

Bravo to the Chicago area resident who observed this oddity! Thanks for sharing it with us at chickenmonkeydog!

You can too. We love posting content sent in by readers.

United says, “Please Drive”

Is this a bit of truth in advertising from the airline industry?

We know that recent budget cuts have made flying extremely unpleasant, so please, do yourself a favor and just drive to your destination.

Or a desperate plea to ease off the pressure?

We are filling our planes to the brim! Over-taxing our resources and turning passengers away. Cut us some slack and please drive.

Or something else entirely? What do you think?

Fine Italian Chocolate

The effect of delivering a gift of “fine Italian chocolate” is quickly diminished when the recipient opens the fancy “Cioccolato al Latte” label to find “B L O C K” typed across her chocolate.

Could you get a more generic looking block of chocolate?

What is a “possible delay”?

Your guess is as good as mine! When the airlines list a “possible delay” what exactly does that mean?

Wouldn’t it be fair to say that every flight could possibly be delayed? Is this information actually supposed to help travelers in any way?

Thanks to Pat for submitting this picture from the airport. You also can put your mobile phone’s camera to good use by sending quirky observations from your daily life to us at chickenmonkeydog [at] gmail [dot] com!

Please not to stop in the chickens!

A sign on a tree

This picture was taken in the public park in the town of El Coco in Costa Rica, where the English translation really caught our eye.  It reads:

“Please not to stop in the chickens. Thank you for cooperating.

Municipality (cooperated corporated town) of Pulley”

Pollo means chicken in Spanish, but it is also an old word for the benches found in public parks.

Here is the same sign, in Spanish:

“Por favor no pararse en los pollos. Gracias por cooperar.

Municipalidad de Carrillo”

What they actually meant to say in English was:

Please do not stand on the benches.
Thank you for cooperating. (They actually got that part right)

Municipality of Carrillo (Very simply, Carrillo is the name of the Municipality, and Carrillo is also a Pulley.  I guess their translator also wanted people to know that a Municipality is a Corporated Town)

Thanks to Alan in Costa Rica for sending this quirky chicken finding to chickenmonkeydog [at] gmail [dot] com! You too can send us pictures of the crazy things you find too and we’ll share ‘em!
