Thanks to Sanjay from Michigan for sharing this photo of a cleverly named portable toilet. The company has created a witty word play on the nature of deliveries dropped off from the back of a truck as well as … something else that you might drop here.

In considering this photo submitted by a reader, I feel like I’ve seen a lot of cleverly named portable toilet companies. I wonder what inspires an entire industry to go on such a creative naming streak?

Perhaps they are using comedy to try to overcome the social awkwardness surrounding discussing toilets?

What other theories do you have? And have you seen any particularly funny and memorable portable toilet company names?

If they have to like it better, do you think they ever pay out?

Also, would they be paying you back the money which you spent on the competitor’s pizza? Or all of the money which you had previously spent at this restaurant?

Cheers to a reader from Chicago, a city that’s quite serious about pizza, for submitting this puzzling and interesting sign.

This could be quite inconvenient if you only notice the sign after you have already parked and exited your car!

Just vandals trying to be clever, or is the parking lot owner trying to warn you about a potential hazard currently inside your car (i.e. killer bees injected through the ventilation system)? Decide at your own risk!

Bravo to the Chicago area resident who observed this oddity! Thanks for sharing it with us at chickenmonkeydog!

Is this a bit of truth in advertising from the airline industry?

We know that recent budget cuts have made flying extremely unpleasant, so please, do yourself a favor and just drive to your destination.

Or a desperate plea to ease off the pressure?

We are filling our planes to the brim! Over-taxing our resources and turning passengers away. Cut us some slack and please drive.

Or something else entirely? What do you think?

Thanks to a reader from Chicago for sharing this photo with us. We love sharing community quirkiness! Send us the strange things you find too at chickenmonkeydog [at] gmail [dot] com.

This picture was taken in the public park in the town of El Coco in Costa Rica, where the English translation really caught our eye. It reads:

“Please not to stop in the chickens. Thank you for cooperating.

Municipality (<del datetime="2011-02-09T15:32:17+00:00">cooperated</del> corporated town) of Pulley”

Pollo means chicken in Spanish, but it is also an old word for the benches found in public parks.

Here is the same sign, in Spanish:

“Por favor no pararse en los pollos. Gracias por cooperar.

Municipalidad de Carrillo”

What they actually meant to say in English was:

Please do not stand on the benches.
Thank you for cooperating. (They actually got that part right)

Municipality of Carrillo (Very simply, Carrillo is the name of the Municipality, and Carrillo is also a Pulley. I guess their translator also wanted people to know that a Municipality is a Corporated Town)

Thanks to Alan in Costa Rica for sending this quirky chicken finding to chickenmonkeydog [at] gmail [dot] com! You too can send us pictures of the crazy things you find too and we’ll share ‘em!
